date ideas for the nonromantics

hello there, all you fellow nonromantics & anyone else who found themselves here
For those of you who don’t know, my name is Ally and I run the halcyon girl. I cover a whole lot of topics on here but I tend to steer clear from my love life. Now you’re gonna find out why…

I shudder at the thought of anything that falls in the realm of “romance.” It’s a mix between painful cringing and defensive awkwardness. When girls around me would faint at the thought of an elaborate promposal with roses and a crowd, I ran away when a boy in high school asked me to prom with no one around and a sign that said, “Bitch, prom?” Another time, someone brought me flowers for my birthday and I just immediately started yelling, “No, no, no!”
The thought of a real proposal scares the shit out of me, which is one of the many reasons I’m not super into the idea of marriage—but that’s a different post for a different day.
I am beyond content with just a chill night, watching a movie, or hanging with a small group. No candlelit picnic dates for me because I’ll probably just run away. But, considering that I have a boyfriend, I still wanna do fun things with him on the weekends as long as it doesn’t involve roses or rings.
And herein lies the constant struggle: what the fuck are we supposed to do?
So, to save us both some pain and possibly save you all from some of your own painful date-brainstorming sessions, I came up with a list. All you nonromantics out there, this one is for you.
Happy dating, you wonderful people!
